Cataract Dam is a located in Appin south of Sydney. It is one of the oldest dams in Sydney and features beautiful sandstone buildings. The dam was constructed between 1902 and 1907 and at the time was the biggest engineering project in Australia.
Take a walk across the dam wall and enjoy the viewing area looking across the lake and surrounding bushland.
Visitors can also enjoy a picnic and BBQ within the grounds.
Opening hours are as follows:
10.00am to 5.00pm each day
Extended hours, 10.00am to 7.00 pm on weekends and public holidays during daylight saving time
No entry is permitted 15 minutes prior to closing time.
