Elizabeth Bay House was once the largest home in Sydney. It was built by Alexander Macleay (Colonial Secretary) in 1835. Macleay, however he was not a good money manager and management of the house was eventually taken over by his son William Sharp Macleay.
Today the house and its gardens are a museum and offer visitors a stunning look into life in the 1800’s.
Guides are available to take guests for tours , however please call ahead to make sure a guide is available if you specifically need one. There are also printed guides available.
Don’t miss the video which plays on a loop in the exhibition room on the first floor.
