The Georges River Nature Reserve in Campbelltown is a large bushland area that includes some fantastic riverside spots . The main feature of this reserve is it’s walking trails and access to the Georges River.
Key locations within the reserve include:
Ingleburn Reserve : this spacious park features tables, BBQs, playground and toilets. There is a great bushwalk trail that leads to a gorge
Simmo’s Beach Reserve : this popular reserve features tables, BBQs, playground and toilets. There are quite a few walking trails within the reserve and great views of the Georges River. Take the stairs down to Simmo’s Beach which features beautiful white sand
Keith Longhurst Reserve (formally known as The Basin Reserve) : is a 76 hectare bushland reserve. The main feature of the reserve is walking trails that lead to the river. These include The Basin Walking Trail and the Old Ford Road Walking Trail (which features a waterhole ). There are no amenities at this reserve
Frere’s Crossing Reserve: features a 2km return walking trail (with loose rocks and some steep sections). Whilst there are no picnic facilities or amenities at the reserve, it is a beautiful walk that leads to the Georges River
The reserve features an active and healthy Koala colony and you may also spot other native wildlife including echidnas and wallabies.
