Joseph Bank Native Plants Reserve is a special place being one of only a few gardens in the Sydney area that are dedicated to Australian native plants. The garden is also home to many native birds and other fauna.
Joseph Banks was the official Botanist aboard James Cook’s Edeavour and as such the reserve is dedicated to him.
The garden cover 2.2 hectares and includes sections on Aboriginal food and medicinal plants. There is also 4kms of sealed pathways making the reserve easy to get around. The garden also includes lovely decked seating areas and water views.
There are picnic areas and an electric barbecue. Portions of the garden are wheelchair and stroller friendly.
