Parliament of NSW provides a historic, informative and interesting day out for visitors and locals. The Parliament of NSW is housed in one of the buildings formerly known as the Rum Hospital and is also Australia’s first parliament established in 1829.
The Parliament is open to the public weekdays from 9:00am to 5:00pm throughout the year. If you wish to see Parliament in action then you need to visit when Parliament is sitting. On these days you can only access the Visitors Galleries, but you can book in advance to attend Question Time in the Legislative Assembly which is held at 2.15pm on sitting days. Make sure to view the Parliament calendar before visiting to ascertain if it is a sitting day or not.
Alternatively visitors can undertake a guided tour of the Parliament of NSW on Mondays and Friday at 1.30pm. On the tour you will see the Legislative Chambers and the historic Parkes, Wentworth and Jubilee rooms. Tours take place every day during the school holidays.
