Susannah Place Museum is a terrific place to visit if you are in The Rocks. It comprises four terraces that were built in 1844 by Irish Immigrants. Amazingly these terraces have survived the development of The Rocks precinct and today they tell the story of the people who occupied them for 150 years.
Guests will be fascinated to see how families lived in another time. Visitors can also visit the recreated 1920s corner shop for some lollies, gifts and household items.
A key attraction of the museums is that many rooms are largely un-restored and in the condition of their last occupants.
Access to the museum is via guided tour only. Tours run at 2.00pm, 3.00pm and 4.00pm (check website to ensure session times have not changed). Sessions can be busy so it is advised to book ahead.
Please be aware that their are narrow and steep flights of stairs and no air-conditioning.
For real value make sure you check out the Living Museums Pass which offers entry to 12 museums for one price ($24.00 per adult as at September 2018).
