Central Business District and Surrounds

Sydney Opera House

Every holidays the Sydney Opera House runs free creative play sessions in their foyer.

These holidays the Sydney Opera House is also showing Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo ($29 per ticket), Meeting Mozart ($25.00 per ticket) and the Junior Adventure Tours are running again at $22.00 per child.

Royal Botanic Gardens

Bring the kids along to see the new Hello Koala display – from 4 October till 30 November. Each day there are free guided walks in the garden, plus during the holiday there are also paid school holiday activities.

Cockatoo Island

Cockatoo Island is hosting various tours these holidays – tours range from $5.00 to $16.00.

There is also a free Steam Crane Demo being held on Saturday, 12 October at 11.00am, 12.00pm, 1.00pm and 2.00pm.

State Library of NSW

Enjoy a free tour of the Library throughout the holidays, along with free pop up art making. There are also some cheap workshops at their Drop in Activity sessions.

The Sydney Observatory runs day tours during school holidays. Tickets cost $10.00 per adult and $8.00 per child or $26.00 for a family ticket.

Sydney City Councils runs an excellent and very well priced school holiday program with lots of events aimed at teenagers. Events from $2.00.

Some excellent activities for kids (kids get free entry into the museum with a paying adult) including Space Odyssey Tinkertoreum, Fantastical Worlds and Apollo II.

The Gallery is running some excellent free (and pretty cheap) events these school holidays. Enjoy story time, Free Dance and Performance Workshops and even Weaving Workshops!

    ImaginArta – the Australian Puppet Centre presents a family puppet show every Sunday at 11 am at the Sutton Forest Hall, 7414 Illawarra H’way, Sutton Forest (1.5 hrs drive South of Sydney). Ticket prices are $15 adults, $11 Children and only $10.50 per ticket for groups of 4 or more. No bookings necessary.

    This Sunday 6th Oct will be ‘Puppet Pandemonium’, an interactive Puppetry variety show for all ages by Pupperoos.
