You know summer is coming in Sydney when the outdoor movies start.
With our amazing warm summer evenings, there is nothing better than sitting outside and enjoying a free flick.
There are lots of great, FREE sessions around with the biggest programs being Movies by the Boulevard, as well as Movies in the Park and the Starlight Cinema.
There are still some movie sessions to be confirmed, so check back in to this article to keep up to date with all the free outdoor movies in Sydney over this Summer and the coming Autumn!
The following are movie festivals and programs that run across both Summer and Autumn.
1. Movies in the Park Strathfield
Head on down to Strathfield Park for the latest box office hits under the stars. Bring a blanket, a picnic and anything else you need to enjoy a night of fun and entertainment with family and friends.

2. Movies by the Boulevard, Sydney Olympic Park
Movies by the Boulevard is one of Sydney’s biggest outdoor, free movie programs. With films for adults and kids this mega film fest has something for everyone. You can BYO food and drinks (including alcohol) or you can buy from the various cafes and restaurants in the area. Make sure to bring bean bags, rugs and pillows for a comfy movie event.

3. Darling Harbour Christmas Movies
Enjoy a night at the Darling Harbour Village Green watching Christmas movies on the outdoor screen.

4. Starlight Cinema, Georges River Council
A hit with families, the popular Starlight Cinema series is returning with Georges River Council once again hosting film screenings in a range of locations. This line-up of family-friendly events is a wonderful opportunity for families and friends to get out and enjoy the outdoors in the warmth of early autumn.

5. Harold Park Pedal Powered Film Nights
Two free outdoor film screenings where YOU can provide the power to keep the projector running!

6. The Newport Cinema by the Sea
Enjoy Monday night movies at The Newport Cinema by the Sea. Movies include Spider-Man: Far From Home, Forrest Gump, Crazy Rich Asians, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Instant Family.

8. Christmas in the Garden showing ‘The Grinch’

9. Cinema in the Park, Penrith
Entertainment and activities start from 6.00pm, with Dumbo starting at dusk (approximately 8.00pm). Food and drinks will be available to purchase on the night.
