Celebrate Winter by getting to one of the Winter Festivals in Sydney this year

Winter is well and truly upon us.

And along with this chilly weather come the amazing winter festivals. Yay!

There are some pretty awesome events on offer this winter season. Lots have free entry and they all offer some pretty amazing activities.

So don’t hibernate this winter, get out and enjoy the best winter events in Sydney!

P.S Sydney also has some great, free (and cheap) ice skating events to enjoy.

City

Bastille Festival

The Bastille Festival has to be one of the biggest events on offer this winter. Guests will be able to experience a HUGE range of activities with lots of them for free!

Get in early to nab an authentic wooden chalet to have your dinner in. Enjoy the snow machines, beautiful Christmas pine trees with Christmas decorations, fairy lights, Christmas carols, FREE ice-skating (for kids under 10) and even gingerbread houses. Snap up some amazing french winter food and enjoy the market stalls.

Winter Festival Sydney, St Mary’s Cathedral

It doesn’t get more romantic or wintry then ice skating out the front of St Mary’s Cathedral.

Winterland Festival, Campbelltown

Winterland Festival is now in its 8th year and it offers the perfect mix of winter activities to keep everyone happy. Enjoy winter themed rides, games, a huge ice skating rink, an ice slide and a European Winter themed food village. You’ll also enjoy ice sculpting, fire pits, roving entertainers, fireworks, watching professional ice skaters and ice hockey and a giant ferris wheel.

Kareela Village

Kareela Village have put together a great series of events to keep the kids entertained these school holidays. Kids can enjoy FREE ice-skating as well as a different (mostly free) activity each day.

Camden Winter Wonderland

Come along and enjoy Camden’s first ever Winterfest event! The event will run from 12 to 14 July from 10.00am to 9.00pm and will have a huge range of free and cheap activities.

Ice skating will be available for $5.00 per person with a 20 minutes skate. You’ll also enjoy face painting, jumping castles, entertainment and a winter market.

Bondi Winter Magic

For the 10th year in a row Bondi will be transformed into a beach side winter wonderland. Enjoy the amazing ice rink by the sea and the 22 metre high ferris wheel. There is also a full program of events to enjoy with the On the Streets series and Bondi Feast.

Winterlight Festival, Parramatta

Parramatta will be overtaken by Winterlight this July! There will be a tonne of activities on offer including:

  • Ice-skating (additional cost)
  • Morphology free light installation
  • Winter lantern workshop
  • Puppet workshop
  • Free circus workshop
  • $2.00 carnival rides

Visitors will also enjoy an Alpine themed ski village where you can tuck into some amazing winter foodie goodies.

Rouse Hill Winter Comes Alive

Rouse Hill Town Village is celebrating winter in a big way this year! Visitors will be able to enjoy ice skating, carnival rides and life-size ice animals (Monday 8 to Friday 19 July only).

Winterfest Sydney Medieval Fair

Get ready to go back in time at the Winterfest Medieval Fair. This amazing event will include jousting, archery and combat, crafts, cooking and games.

You could win a prize if you catch a judge’s eye with your medieval costume, so come in your best medieval dress, and enjoy the fun of Winterfest!

Luna Park Winterfest

If you’ve been thinking about heading to Luna Park then now is the time! They have an amazing harbourside ice skating rink that is included free of charge in your rides pass. The cheapest time to buy a rides pass is to get a Twilight Saver which gives you access to the rides from 6.00pm. You can of course enter Luna Park for free and just enjoy the ambiance!

You’ll also be able to snap a pic with Santa and enjoy some special winter inspired food.
